WEBMASTER'S NOTE: This story brings out in a very touching and realistic fashion, an imaginary story about a well to do Christian man and his family, with loving wife and several children. Mr. Hardy was a well known man in his community and in his Church, but was living a self-centered life.
It illustrates in clear and detailed manner how so many nominal Christians are living lives of discontentment, some even living lives harmful to the cause of Christ and His Church, most of them unhappy and unsatisfied, and often not realizing why life is so pointless to them.
This is well written indeed, by Charles M. Sheldon, who was also the author of several other great early day books of Christian Fiction, including the classic "In HIs Steps," which popularized the expression WWJD, or "What Would Jesus Do?"
I believe reading this book will be time very well spent for any true believer, and I highly recommend it! - JHD

Titles of other books by Charles Sheldon: "The Twentieth Door"; "The Crucifixion of Philip Strong"; "His Brother's Keeper"; "Richard Bruce"; and "In His Steps". I am not familiar with all of them, but my daughter in law, Gail Dearmore, recently finished typing this present one from my old copy, and we have published a digital copy of "In His Steps," and "John King's Question Class." We plan to post various others. - JHD. |
