THE RACE OF LIFE

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

We are in a race in this life and satan and the world are our weights. Many times we take our focus off of Jesus and put it on our problems, circumstances, and material possessions. We will never win the race unless we keep our eyes on Jesus.

Sometimes it requires us giving up things and even giving up old friends that go places and say things that a Christian shouldn’t endorse. Jesus has commanded us to love one another. The greatest thing in this life is love and Jesus proved His Love for us when He died on the Cross of Calvary. The Love of Jesus is the answer to every situation and every heartache.

All of us need encouragement to stay in the race because sometimes there is a tunnel of despair, discouragement, and frustration. The athletes running in a race can’t have someone holding them up while they are running, but we can hold each other up in the race of life by prayer, encouragement, and hugs.

Let’s become encouragers to one another so that we can run the race with enthusiasm and joy. The race is long, but Jesus is our Victor and He will carry us through until one day we meet Him in Heaven.
