HIS REFRESHING LOVE

“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.”

Psalm 63: 1 – 7 King James Version

There are times in our lives when it feels like everyone has left us and we are all alone in the fierceness of the battles that we are fighting. The world has hurled its poisonous barbs of criticism, sarcasm, prejudice and judgment at us and our hearts have become dry and we feel like giving up. The joy, peace and happiness that we had, perhaps even an hour ago, has fled and sadness, grief and turmoil have taken their place. It is then that we need to cry out to Jesus from the depths of our heart and ask Him to please refresh our determination to go on in spite of these obstacles. We need His refreshing love to flood our hearts and once again turn on the light of hope.

I have received several emails during the last two years from people who told me that they felt all alone and hopeless. One person told me “The well of joy that I had is gone; the well is dry because I don’t feel anything in my heart anymore. I am dead inside”. He told me about some very sad and tragic things that he was enduring which caused him to feel that way. I told him to run as fast as he could to the living water; the well of happiness and joy, our Saviour.

I don’t know what crises and heartaches you are facing today but I know the one who can turn the dryness of despair and hopelessness into refreshing rivers of joy, peace, excitement and happiness and His name is Jesus! His river of refreshing love is big enough to cover the entire world and all we have to do is plunge into it to be revived. When it is extremely hot outside we take a shower to cool off. Step into the refreshing shower of the love of Jesus. Allow His understanding, kindness, compassion, tenderness and unconditional love to revive your dry heart. Without His refreshing love, we will remain dry and feel hopeless. Have you been in His shower of love today?
