HE’S COMING

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

1 Corinthians 15: 51, 52 King James Version

What a glorious day that will be when the trumpet sounds and our victorious Saviour returns for us! The verse tells us that we will be changed. There will be no more sorrow or heartaches. There will be no more child abuse or spousal abuse. There will be no more rape victims. There will be no more shootings in schools. When Jesus comes back for us, we will have a peace, a joy and a happiness that will last forever.

All of the criticism and sarcasm that we have endured because we took a stand for Jesus will be worth it all when we see Him. The tears that we shed at night when we go to bed will also be gone. There will be no reason to cry because we will be in the presence of our precious Saviour forever. Oh, how I long for that day when I shall see my beloved Saviour face to face!

I don’t think that we really believe that He is going to come in a “twinkling of an eye.” We preach it; we teach it; we write about it; and we talk about it, but I don’t think we really believe that He is coming back for us any minute. Because if we did, we would never worry about anything. We would be in a constant state of happiness and joy knowing that any minute He is coming back for us.

We put so many things off until the next day. We may not have a tomorrow to tell our loved ones and the world about our risen and loving Saviour. When He comes back for us, we won’t have time to say “I’m sorry” to the ones we have hurt. More important than that, we won’t have time to tell Jesus we’re sorry that we didn’t spend more time serving Him. We will have to look away in shame when He asks us why we put material things ahead of Him. He may not say this, but I believe with all of my heart that He will think this “I died for you and you couldn’t even turn off the television to fellowship with Me and to tell others how much I love them.”

Just as He felt the nails of rejection in His heart while hanging on the cross, I believe that He feels the nails of rejection in His heart today because we choose television, sports and other activities over Him. Why do we keep rejecting Him and hurting Him? Why do we continue hurting people? When we hurt people, we hurt Him. He has made it very clear that we are not to go to certain places but we continue going to those places. May God forgive us for hurting our precious Saviour!

Oh dear friends, Jesus is coming back for us and He is coming soon. We had better be sure that there is nothing in our hearts that is displeasing to Him. This is not a fairy tale or just something that we read about; this is reality! The King of kings and Lord of lords is coming back just as He promised us.

Are you ready to meet Him? Have you said yes to Jesus? Have you humbled yourself, admitted that you are a sinner and asked Him to forgive you and save you? If not, I urge you; I plead with you to do it even as you read this. Don’t wait! You may not have a tomorrow to say yes to Jesus.
