This morning while fixing breakfast and sprinkling seasoning salt on my egg omelet, this verse came to my mind. We need to talk and act with God’s seasonings. Our actions and words should have God’s grace, mercy, compassion, understanding, patience and forgiveness. Everything we say or do should draw others closer to Jesus.
We need to love others as Jesus Loves us. It hurts Jesus when we treat people with harshness, anger and criticism. It is important to remember that while our loved ones hurt us; we also hurt them. If we would only concentrate on keeping our hearts in tune with Jesus, we wouldn’t have the time or the nerve to tell others what they are doing wrong. Every one of us fails Jesus and every one of us hurts Jesus.
I read a book once and all it had was facts. There was nothing to make me want to read it again. There was no seasoning to it. When I read a book about people, I want to read about how much they love Jesus. It’s the same with hearing testimonies. It’s wonderful to tell how you have gotten a new job, found a new home, or anything else, but if you don’t say that it is because of Jesus, the testimony means nothing.
Without Jesus, we wouldn’t be able to write, speak, teach, preach, sing, or anything else. Everything good comes from Him. All of us are as filthy rags and it is only Jesus who cleanses our hearts and equips us to serve Him. Are you giving your loved ones, friends, and the world God’s seasonings, or are you giving them the seasonings of satan?
