I have received several emails from Pastors who told me they are discouraged because of criticism from the church members. One day, those church members will stand before God and give an account of every cruel word they have said to their Pastor and every critical word they have said about their Pastor to someone else.
God has set apart and commissioned your Pastor. We are to pray for our Pastors and encourage them. We are to submit ourselves under their leadership because they will have to give an account to God for our souls.
Joyce Landorf says on one of her teaching tapes, “A woman came up to me in the airport and pointed to herself and said “Pastors and their wives need encouragement”. Your Pastor is human and he gets tired and discouraged. He needs your prayers and encouragement. It is not enough to just shake his hand at the door as you are leaving church.
As we begin this new year, it would be a wonderful thing if we would commit to pray for our Pastor and family every day. A Pastor friend of mine in Texas said one time “When I see you smiling or hear an Amen when I am preaching, it encourages me”. Please pray for your Pastor and family.
