Any reference to believers in the Qur'an (Koran) refers to Muslims. Any reference to infidels refers to all non-Muslims, especially Christians and Jews. The phrase people of the book refers exclusively to Christians and Jews. Many Muslim "scholars" refer to Jews as pigs, monkeys, etc. In many Muslim countries this is taught to children from toddlers up (and there are unconfirmed reports that it is being taught in Madrassas right here in the USA).

10. A husband has sex with his wife, as a plow goes into a field.

The Quran in Sura (Chapter) 2:223 says:

Your women are your fields, so go into your fields whichever way you like . . . . (MAS Abdel Haleem, The Qur'an, Oxford UP, 2004)

9. Husbands are a degree above their wives.

The Quran in Sura 2:228 says:

. . . Wives have the same rights as the husbands have on them in accordance with the generally known principles. Of course, men are a degree above them in status . . . (Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi, The Meaning of the Qur'an, vol. 1, p. 165)

8. A male gets a double share of the inheritance over that of a female.

The Quran in Sura 4:11 says:

The share of the male shall be twice that of a female . . . . (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 311)

7. A woman's testimony counts half of a man's testimony.

The Quran in Sura 2:282 says:

And let two men from among you bear witness to all such documents [contracts of loans without interest]. But if two men be not available, there should be one man and two women to bear witness so that if one of the women forgets (anything), the other may remind her. (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 205).

6. A wife may remarry her ex—husband if and only if she marries another man and then this second man divorces her.

The Quran in Sura 2:230 says:

And if the husband divorces his wife (for the third time), she shall not remain his lawful wife after this (absolute) divorce, unless she marries another husband and the second husband divorces her. [In that case] there is no harm if they [the first couple] remarry . . . . (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 165)

5. Slave-girls are sexual property for their male owners.

The Quran in Sura 4:24 says:

And forbidden to you are wedded wives of other people except those who have fallen in your hands [as prisoners of war] . . . (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 319).

4. A man may be polygamous with up to four wives.

The Quran in Sura 4:3 says:

And if you be apprehensive that you will not be able to do justice to the orphans, you may marry two or three or four women whom you choose. But if you apprehend that you might not be able to do justice to them, then marry only one wife, or marry those who have fallen in your possession. (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 305)

3. A husband may simply get rid of one of his undesirable wives. The Quran in Sura 4:129 says:

It is not within your power to be perfectly equitable in your treatment with all your wives, even if you wish to be so; therefore, [in order to satisfy the dictates of Divine Law] do not lean towards one wife so as to leave the other in a state of suspense. (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 381)

2. Husbands may hit their wives even if the husbands merely fear highhandedness in their wives (quite apart from whether they actually are highhanded).

The Quran in Sura 4:34 says:

4:34 . . . If you fear highhandedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great. (Haleem, emphasis added)

1. Mature men are allowed to marry prepubescent girls.

The Quran in Sura 65:1, 4 says:

65:1 O Prophet, when you [and the believers] divorce women, divorce them for their prescribed waiting—period and count the waiting—period accurately . . . 4 And if you are in doubt about those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, (you should know that) their waiting period is three months, and the same applies to those who have not menstruated as yet. As for pregnant women, their period ends when they have delivered their burden. (Maududi, vol. 5, pp. 599 and 617, emphasis added)

Warning: The following quotes are blasphemous. They are taken from the Koran (translated by N.J. Dawood). By reading these quotes you will have a basic understanding of the Muslim religion, the wars and tensions in the Middle East, and the terrorism on September 11!

In the first edition of his translation of the Qur'an, in 1956, Dawood rearranged the chapters (suras) into more-or-less chronological order, as to make it easier to determine which verses are abrogated. Later editions restored the traditional sequence of publishing the surahs.

"...now that a Book confirming their own has come to them from God, they deny it...they reply: 'We believe in what was revealed to us.' But they deny what has since been revealed, although it is truth...Say: 'Whoever is an enemy of Gabriel' (who has by God's grace revealed to you [Muhammad] the Koran as a guide...confirming previous scriptures)..will surely find that God is the enemy of the unbelievers.'...And now that an apostle has come to them from God confirming their own Scriptures, some of those to whom the Scriptures were given cast off the Book of God behind their backs...The unbelievers among the People of the Book, and the pagans, resent that any blessings should have been sent down to you from your Lord. " (Surah 2:88-, 98-, 103-)

"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)

"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (Surah 2:216)

"Men are tempted [in this life] by the lure of women...far better is the return of God. Say: 'Shall I tell you of better things than these, with which the righteous shall be rewarded by their Lord? Anyone who thinks Islam is a peaceful religion has been brain-washed. There are a few peaceful Muslims but they are not obeying the Qur'an. Almost none of the Muslims or Muslim organizations condemn 911 or terrorism.

I definitely support the right of a Muslim or atheist or anyone to worship or not worship any God or gods of his/her choosing so long as they obey the law and do not disturb public order, persecute others, or advocate violence. It is an absolute fact that there are "Madrassas" (Islamic schools from childhood up) that teach hatred and violence against all non-Muslims, especially Christians and Jews, and advocate the establishment of Sharia law and an Islamic Caliphate ruling the world, including the USA (i.e. the overthrow of our constitutional US govt.). Sharia law advocates floggings, amputations of hands, stoning for adultery, killing anyone who converts from Islam to another religion and killing of anyone who blasphemes Muhammad or Allah (and they define what is blasphemy). BTW Allah is not the God of the Bible because saying that Allah has a son is considered blasphemy punishable by execution.

As to the Crusades - let's tell the other side of the story. Islamic armies had invaded the Holy Land (and subsequently Europe) and seized the religious sites of Christianity and Judaism, turning them into mosques, barns, stables, etc.. They had killed and committed atrocities against thousands of Christians and Jews. No, 2 wrongs do not make a right. BTW Catholicism does not represent true Biblical Christianity. Catholicism in the inquisition killed over 50,000,000 Biblical Christians, the majority of them Anabaptists/Baptists.

The main reason for a delayed entry into WWII by the US was not anti-semitism but the spineless British Prime Minister (Ed. Note: His name was Arthur Neville Chamberlain. He was a British Conservative politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May, 1937 to May, 1940) who compromised and sold Britain out to Hitler; ditto Quisling in Norway, and a number of "quislings" in France. In any case we saved Europe at the cost of 100's of thousands of US lives and billions of US dollars, and then helped our enemies rebuild. I am tired of occasional (usually mild) anti-semitism being equated morally (Ed. Note: generally by liberals/progressives) with the Nazi's systematic extermination of 6 million Jews and an effort to enslave the world. Yes, history books have been re-written by many groups.

As to "Native Americans" (BTW, I am a native American). There were just as many atrocities committed by "Native Americans" against whites as the reverse. Both sides broke treaties. The cruelty of NA's to whites (torture, scalping, etc.) far surpassed the other side of the coin. BTW the NA's killed and displaced the inhabitants of the US before them. They had almost continual tribal warfare and killed large numbers (or took them as slaves) of other Indian tribes before the first white man ever settled in the US.

The special concessions, reservations, subsidies and welfare have almost destroyed the NA's. Alcoholism is 90% + among adults at many reservations. The only NA's that have made progress are those that have left the reservations. Many of them have done extremely well.

As to slavery: Most slaves in the world today are held in Muslim countries or in Africa. NA's practiced slavery (of other NA's) before the first white man ever settled in the US. Africans, Europe, and Asia practiced slavery before America was even discovered. Arabs (Muslims) captured most of the African slaves that were sold in Europe and the US. Most of them were sold to the Arabs by their own African Chiefs. America did not invent slavery and, in fact, has done more to end it than any other nation on earth. Yes, some cruelty was practiced against slaves but many slave owners gave them a better life than they had in Africa and in some cases "freed" slaves stayed with their masters who had been kind. BTW, although slavery is personally abhorrent to me, the Bible nowhere condemns. In fact, it tacitly approves it by describing the proper relation between master and slave, one of consideration and kindness.

I am tired of socialist, bleeding heart liberals of any race talking about reparations to NA's or African American's. Neither I nor my father nor grandfather have ever owned a slave and there are no people now living who were slaves in the US.
