WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT - 1
Ephesians 5:8
"Walk as children of light:", Ephesians 5:8
These five words lie amidst a great theme given unto us by the inspired apostle Paul. We
will want to explore the surrounding verses - - - but for now let's examine these five words.
Only the One saying He was the light of the world, (John 8:12) could make the ones
whom Paul wrote, "children of light" (see our text). Being made "children" involves
being born into a family:
(1) Jesus says to Nicodemus (and all, therefore) "Ye must be born again."
(2) One cannot see the kingdom of God except he be born again, John 3:3.
(3) This is accomplished by the Lord in such a way that these are "born of the
Spirit", John 3:8.
(4) and as such, man who is"born of the Spirit is spirit." John 3:6.
Those who have been born again are called "children of light:" (Ephesians 5:8). They
are called to "walk as children of light." It would be impossible to walk according
to the meaning Paul asserts UNLESS one was born again.
To be born again is a "must", and it has some essentials to have such a "born again"
experience. One must HEAR the Gospel (the good news about Jesus as the Saviour).
In response to it, one must see himself as God sees him: a SINNER. He must not only
regret sinning;l but want to be rid of it so much that he REPENTS toward God. In so
doing, he is on grounds where he can BELIEVE ON JESUS to SAVE him. Jesus' name means:
"he shall save his people from their sins", Matthew 1;21. You see, He tasted death for
every man, Hebrews 2:9 - - - therefore , any CAN be saved. How about it? Are you? DDH.
