“Facebook Founder Seeks Legalized Gay Marriage in New York” “The co-founder of Facebook and his boyfriend are seeking a same-sex marriage in New York. Chris Hughes of Facebook and Sean Eldridge, political director of the homosexual Lobby Freedom to Marry [FTM], became engaged …and have announced intentions of marrying in New York. Presently gay marriage is legal in only” five states and the District of Columbia.
The Democratic governor of NY, Andrew Cuomo, has emphatically stated his intention to make gay marriage legal in that state. A gay marriage proponent, state Sen. Thomas Duane (Dem), “has pledged to introduce such legislation” very soon. A 2009 endeavor to legalize same-sex marriage in NY was defeated 38-24 by a Democratic controlled state senate vote. Republicans now control the state senate and “the new GOP Majority Leader has made it clear he doesn’t support gay marriage.”
“Facebook Adds Civil Unions to Profiles”
Based on the previous article above, it is no surprise that Facebook has virtually at the same time of the above action “expanded its romantic status options” to include “domestic partnership[s].” Facebook’s “addition of civil unions and domestic partnerships its users can pick from, came after talks with gay rights organizations and include the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation [GLAAD].”
GLAAD’s president, Jarret Barrios, said that the Facebook social network has “sent a clear message in support of gay and lesbian couples to users across the globe.” Barrios declared that “By acknowledging the relationships of countless loving and committed same-sex couples in the U. S. and abroad, Facebook has set a new standard of inclusion for social media.”
Is Facebook a Major Factor and/or the Foremost Basis in the “Rising Cause of Divorce” in Great Britain?
The above question title posed by the F. D. editor should probably be reworded more as a statement of fact rather than a possibility, since the news article quoted below cites evidence that appears to validate that above query.
“The London Telegraph reported last week of the rising influence the social website Facebook has on divorces in the United Kingdom. ‘One expert said she had dealt with 30 cases in the last nine months and Facebook has been implicated in all of them. Another Online law company said one in five of their divorce petitions in the past year contain references to Facebook.
In particular, many situations of adultery are started through contacts via Facebook. Sometimes, the website facilitates an online relationship that, though not physical, can be considered as adulterous, especially by the cheated spouse. Also, Facebook is a place where a spouse will often voice complaints about their partner without realizing that word can get back to their spouse.
One lawyer in the report said, ‘They feel compelled to share their feelings online, and, in some cases, they not only express their stress, but also make inflammatory accusations against their partner.” Resource cited: The Eau Claire [WI] Journal, Feb. 2-15, 2011, B-3
Editor: How much more evidence do we need to present to get adults --- particularly Bible-believing Christians --- to abandon this spiritually dangerous activity?
